Such craziness was standard-issue for the era, and the trippy-indulgent instrumental FX, the warped time signatures of Cornucopia, and the cocaine-praising Snowblind further exposed and reflected the tenor of the times. Snowblind was the albums working title, but Vertigo Records executives were reluctant to release an album with such an obvious drug reference. It was the first album by Sabbath not produced by Rodger Bain guitarist Tony Iommi assumed production duties. Patrick Meehan, the bands then-manager, was listed as co-producer, though his actual involvement in the albums production was minimal. Recorded at Record Plant Los Angeles, CA. Heres an old image of an 8 Track of the Volume 4 album from Warner Bros in the 70s. The first video was when Black Sabbath played Changes live in 1995, which was the first time theyd played it in 23 years in concert. Wheels of Confusion. Long ago I wandered through my mind In the land of fairy tales and stories Lost in happiness I knew no fears Innocence and love was all I knew It was an illusion. Black Sabbath 'Vol. 4' is a bit of a departure for the band. Lyrically, they are getting into deeper waters on this album, and I'm sure the excessive consumption of various chemicals had a big hand in that. The gothic themes of the first three albums are fading somewhat here, and are gradually being replaced by the real life horrors of fame and addiction. Internally, they were beginning to unravel a bit, and the songs seem to reveal an emotional ebb and flow that ranges from mournful 'Changes' to manic 'Supernaut' and back again 'Snowblind', cr. The album title appears as Black Sabbath Vol. 4 on the vinyl labels. All tracks by Osbourne, Iommi, Butler, and Ward. This was originally supposed to be called 'Snowblind', but that name was rejected by the record company due to the song's obvious references to cocaine. As I said it's a cocaine album, enough said lol Always stands to my mind as one of their best records and one my personal favourites. Album Rating: 10 Sabbath Vol. 4 often shortened to Volume 4 is the fourth album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1972. The album was originally to be titled Snowblind, after one of several songs referring to cocaine use, and features several Sabbath classics, such as Tomorrow's Dream, Snowblind, Supernaut and Changes. Volume 4 demonstrates Black Sabbath beginning to experiment with the heavy sound they had become known for.
